Plans for Summer Cargo-bike Presentations (maybe without using a Petrol Generator?)

Plans for Summer Cargo-bike Presentations (maybe without using a Petrol Generator?)

Jonathan Fulford helped crowed fund the Liz Canning produced film about the family and social advantages of using cargo bikes. As a ChiCycle member Jonathan hopes to get permission from Liz Canning so we can show all or parts of the documentary in public presentations on walking and cycling opportunities in Chichester.

A few of us have been having lively discussions over showing the film: Should we show the uncut version where family viewers will hear the foul language hurled at a mother taking her kids to school using a cargo bike? Alternatively, should we sensor the content by removing the scenes showing aggression from drivers or bleep out their words? Should we project the presentation onto a huge immersive wide screen using a petrol generator? Or should we make small scale presentations carried and powered entirely by bikes and cargo-bikes?

We already have a copy of the uncensored version which can be viewed on Vimeo here. Vimeo are now also providing a version with the offensive language scene bleeped out here.

We believe there is a high probability we will able to give a range of presentations this summer including scenes from the Motherload Film using ChiCycle’s newly developed bike powered e-technology!

Here is a short video where Mark Record explores the possibilities for powering presentations when we take this show on the road this summer using cargo bikes.

In December 2020 ChiCycle tested shifting all the equipment for interactive presentations by bike and cargo-trike to Florence Park and successfully ran some bike powered presentations while illuminating lovely colourful flashing Christmas lights too.

Philip Maber took the photo of the ChiCycle members testing bike powered equipment shown below.

  1. There are a few dates we may wish to avoid for our summer events.
The Quaker Meeting House has a poetry day on the 3rd July.
The Goodwood Festival runs from the 8th to the 11th July. However we could providing an alternative antidote parallel event to the FS that is not quite as fast but a lot more environmental friendly?
