Chichester’s Cycle Without Age Trishaw Is Back In Action Again
Philip Maber’s endless enthusiasm has brought Chichester’s Cycle Without Age Trishaw back into action again.
Jenny Cole and Adam Bell deserve plenty of credit for assisting Philip too.
The ambitious project was originally started by Richard Turnbull in 2020 but after his admirable hard work keeping it running for several years, other concomitants forced Richard to cease operating rides in 2023.
A key to reinstating Chichester Trishaw rides has been Philips success in obtaining full insurance cover from Alex-Krupa/Unity insurance.
Philip has now lined up 14 volunteers who will take elderly or mobility impaired people out on regular rides with the Trishaw.
All volunteers are receiving advanced cycle and first aid training. Thorough DBS checks are being conducted too.
Everything is being put in place to make certain a professional service is always delivered.
Today, Carley Sitwell and John Funnell test rode the trishaw while it was skilfully piloted by Philip Maber. They all enjoyed joining Mark Simons’ excellent Annual Tweed Ride.

On today’s Tweed Ride we discovered the cycle route was not wide enough for the trishaw.
Fortunately, because so many people had joined the ride, we had plenty of people to lift the trishaw and haul it into the air over the obstructing bollards.

Rides on the trishaw enable people with mobility impairment to enjoy and engage in all sorts of interaction in the community. At the Market Cross in Chichester we met this wonderfully attired woman who was stilt walking.
